On Thursday 3rd April we lost our best mate, Sundown - Sonny to his friends. He died suddenly in his paddock only three months from his thirtieth birthday. He features in my saddlers secrets photos and was always patient when being subject to "modelling" various artillery and Mounted Rifles gear. His sense of humour and quirky ways were unique, he is going to be sadly missed. He is resting in his favourite spot in his paddock over looking Whau Valley and beyond - Rest in Peace Sundown.

The loss of a pet is a dramatic event in any family - and will take some time to get over.
The absolute trust that flows between man and animal is an amazing thing - it certainly brings life into perspective and they make us all better people. I feel for your loss of a best friend.

I sprang to the stirrup, and Joris, and he;
I galloped, Dirck galloped, we galloped all three;
‘Good speed!’ cried the watch, as the gate-bolts undrew;
‘Speed!’ echoed the wall to us galloping through;
Behind shut the postern, the lights sank to rest,
And into the midnight we galloped abreast.

Thanks Steve
I know how those guys must have felt when they had to shoot their faithful mounts. At least we were spared that aweful scenerio.
Cheers
