Magic Lanterns projected the images of a war generation. Hand coloured slides were the entertainment medium for troops
during WWI. The glass slide shown above was produced in 1916 and shows a Pyramid in the background with the head
of the Sphinx buried up to her neck by the centuries of sand deposits, (middle foreground) - excavation was not carried
out to expose the full body until 1925. Also shown here is an exhibition room in the Auckland War Memorial Museum,
and a prancing horse hat badge of the NZMR Reinforcements.
